Leonardo da Vinci and H.R. Giger came over last night....
...and they gave me some great ideas for new paintings.
'Wait, what?! Those guys are DEAD!' you might be thinking.
Well, not to me! ( At least in an imaginative sense, anyways;)
They're alive and well in my thoughts, AND they advise me all the time.
Enter the Master Artist Mastermind!
These are the minds I converse with on a daily basis. They give me ideas, encouragement, and insight for into my artistic endeavors. You don't have to know the people directly, all you need to do is research their work, biographies, and interviews. ( aka, you geek out over them!)
This will give you insight into their 'essences', which is enough to communicate with them using your own powerful imagination.
In his book “Think and Grow Rich“, Napoleon Hill described the Mastermind principle as, “The coordination of knowledge and effort between two or more people who work towards a definite purpose in a spirit of harmony…no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind”, also known as, the Mastermind.
To add to that, Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. Who you spend your time with influences the person that you will eventually become.
Here's some examples of what these legendary artists 'whisper' to me in the great void and wild expanse of my imagination:
Leonardo da Vinci: 'Cultivate curiosity, and never stop exploring! There is so much wonder in this world and never enough time. Observe, and draw. Observe and draw!'
Guillermo del Toro: 'Make friends with your inner monsters and demons. Learn and be inspired by them. They will teach you things about yourself that no one else can.'
Salvador Dali: 'Be weird, strange and unique! Who gives a fuck what people think. I used to walk my pet armadillo down the streets of New York for crying out loud!'
Tim Burton: 'Explore the darkness and find the whimsical and heartfelt within it. Always connect the heart to the darkness.'
Vincent van Gogh: 'Create a painting every day as if your life depended on it!'
Android Jones: 'Incorporate new technologies, stillness, chaos, and consciousness exploration into your art. Always push the boundaries.'
Zdzislaw Beksinski: 'You can be a decent, kindhearted and charming person and create exquisitely dark, macabre art. I did!'
HR Giger: 'I love that you tell people I'm your father! LOL. Keep doing what you're doing, explore the light and the dark and the sexual, it's all connected!'
Alphonse Mucha: 'Use nature as a guide to design and proportion. It's ALL in nature! All you have to do is look! All good art will incorporate elements of nature.'
So there you have one of my 'secrets' to inspiration and insight. Now your turn!
If you could create a Mastermind group made up of anyone (dead, alive, fictional, or real) who would be in your group and why?
What do they tell you? Be specific, write it all down, and then ACT ACCORDINGLY!
Sounds a bit crazy, but as artists, we're all a bit crazy anyways;)
Never stop being creative, and never stop loving the creative process.
Much love to you all,
